Rant: Cancelled Shows

I'm sure you all have stories like this... and I'd love to hear your tales of
woe.

A number of friends and I bought tickets to see Dan Bern at Richards on
Richards on Friday June 27th 2003. I had yet to see Dan Bern live but we were
all hyped to see an awesome show. A number of my friends have seen him and
had many good things to say.

It was an early show - doors were opening at 7pm. We got their early (7:10pm)
to get good seats for the show but to our dismay the doors were locked. We
were the only ones there. Twilight Zone episode.

The thought that maybe the show was cancelled crossed our mind but there was
no sign on the door to indicate that this was the case plus we were so hyped
up for the show that we didn't want to believe it. We waited until 7:20pm and
finally some people started showing up. By 7:30pm there were about 20
confused people loitering around outside Richards on Richards wondering what
was going on.

We finally called Ticketmaster and they told us that the show was cancelled
and to return to our point of purchase to get a refund. There was no reason
given for the cancelled show. Grrrr.... They were selling tickets the night
before! We called Richards on Richards and there was no message on their
voice mail saying that the show was cancelled. There was also a phone number
for Richards on Richards management on one of the posters. No one answered.
We stuck around for a few more minutes while someone else checked with
Ticketmaster too. We arrived happy and left angry. I just hope Ticketmaster
doesn't charge me a convenience charge to get my refund. I should be charging
them an inconvience charge... but that's another rant! :)

My Rant to Richards on Richards:
If you're going to cancel a show, please be considerate enough to put a sign
on your door.

Anyone else have stories like this?
